Pay range:

Responsible for the oversight of inpatient coding data quality, to include mortality, complication, procedural, and second level reviews.  Utilizes external contractors to conduct annual sample size reviews to ensure the coding function is performed at the highest level of accuracy and efficiency possible.  Plans and implements educational and training sessions for coders based on data found in second level reviews.  When necessary, works with individual coders to develop action plans addressing coding deficiencies.  Acts as liaison with physician staff and will attend medical staff meetings on an ad hoc basis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential is required.  Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) also required.  Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIP) preferred.
• Minimum five years of inpatient coding experience required.
• Experience with audit process, facilitating and responding to audit requests preferred.  Excellent communication skills.  Ability to interact with clinical staff in a collegial fashion to enhance working relationships interdepartmentally.
