Salary$88,608.00 - $141,773.00

Responsible for managing the daily operations and activities of the Surgical Processing Department (SPD) in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards.  Coordinate planning, developing, implementing, coaching, and evaluating the daily operations of the department.  Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, materials management, other healthcare teams, and patients to provide quality services and to maintain surgical instrumentation and SPD operations that assure patient safety.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required.  Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.

  • If Registered Nurse, must maintain current licensure in the State of Washington.  Must attain and maintain C.R.C.S.T. registration within first year of employment.

  • Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in a Surgical Processing Department and/or the intraoperative arena at an academic or regional medical center is required.  Experience must include a minimum of three years in a management or nine years in a leadership (i.e. lead or charge nurse) position overseeing direct reports.  Experience in an offsite surgical processing facility or third party surgical processing facility considered a plus.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities required.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.  Must have the ability to teach and have demonstrated ability in written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.  Understanding of financial reports.  Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and theory relating to decontamination and sterilization procedures.   Detailed knowledge of identification, proper handling of surgical instrumentation, assembly of full surgical instrument trays, surgical power equipment and scopes.  Ability to plan the operations and activities of the Surgical Processing section. Ability to carry out responsibilities without direct supervision.
